The derelict site has considerable redevelopment opportunities

Saighton Camp is a site with considerable redevelopment opportunities. Since closing as military training facility in1999 the site had fallen into a state of disrepair and was purchased for redevelopment in 2005.

Chester has an urgent need for more affordable and family homes. Latest Council research has confirmed that the Council does not have its statutory five year forward supply of housing land. As such the Saighton Camp site will be able to deliver new family homes and 75 affordable homes to help meet the pressing local need. New homes will help reduce in commuting to Chester and offer the opportunity for local families to stay within the area. Given its tight green belt and historic centre, there are few other opportunities for new housing within Chester making the site ever the more important.
